Software Modernization

Regain full mastery over your
software heritage.

Certain enterprise systems have grown so vast and dense that no single person truly understands them anymore. We reconstruct a verifiable, authoritative model of the codebase, its dependencies, and its operational risk zones — enabling your engineering teams to decide and execute with confidence.

The Breaking Point

The software is still running in production. Its comprehension has fractured.

Staff departures, organic growth, and outdated documentation turn every routine update into a gamble. The goal is not to draft yet another static diagram, but to extract a model that remains strictly faithful to the code actually executing.

  • 01

    Original authors have departed

Crucial architectural rationale now exists solely in the fading memory of a few engineers — some of whom have already left the organization.

  • 02

    Documentation no longer reflects reality

Schemas and confluence pages stopped tracking code changes months or years ago. Dev teams no longer know which specifications to trust.

  • 03

    Every modification carries systemic risk

An apparently local code tweak cascades into unexpected regressions downstream. Out of caution, teams postpone necessary modernizations.

  • 04

    Dependencies remain invisible

Call chains, cyclic imports, and tight couplings span multiple repositories and modules without any actionable overarching topological view.

Our Approach

From raw source code to actionable insight for your engineering staff.

Our proprietary code analysis engine builds an authoritative knowledge graph directly from your codebase. Automated parsing accelerates discovery; our senior architects then contextualize the findings within your business domain and operational constraints.

01

Relationships and call hierarchies

Visualize who calls what, from low-level functions to high-level modules, tracing actual execution paths through the system.

02

Change blast-radius analysis

Pinpoint all affected downstream components before altering an API contract, data model, or core business logic.

03

Cycles and hidden couplings

Uncover circular dependencies and blurred boundaries across technical layers or domain models.

04

Architectural hotspots

Identify the modules that concentrate excessive complexity, change churn, and cross-cutting dependencies to guide human peer review.

05

Generated living documentation

Produce a clean documentary foundation synthesized from actual source code, designed to be reviewed, refined, and handed over to your team.

06

Prioritized remediation roadmap

Translate architectural findings into concrete engineering steps ranked by business value, blast radius, and delivery constraints.

Proprietary Engine

Code Explorer: The interactive map of your codebase.

We engineered Code Explorer to map, document, and analyze complex software topologies: a Rust-powered engine that transforms any repository into an indexed graph of symbols and relationships (call hierarchies, imports, inheritance, ownership), directly queryable by developers and AI agents via Model Context Protocol (MCP), running 100% locally. It powers our consulting audits; it is not a standalone off-the-shelf product.

Code Explorer: repository analyzed with tree-sitter into a knowledge graph (files, symbols, call graphs, dependencies, changes) queryable by developers and AI agents via MCP; impact analysis, 14 programming languages
Benchmarked on a public repository of 2.5 million tokens: an impact query consumes approximately 18,000 tokens in a single request instead of ~730,000 tokens across 174 files. Data from published benchmark README.
Deliverables

Three concrete assets to transition from diagnosis to execution.

  1. 01

    Navigable Dependency Map

An interactive code knowledge graph to explore modules, relationships, call paths, external dependencies, and structural hotspots.

  2. 02

    Comprehensive Audit Report

A lucid synthesis of technical debt, architectural vulnerabilities, and areas requiring human validation before refactoring.

  3. 03

    Prioritized Remediation Plan

An actionable engineering trajectory to document, harden, decouple, or modernize the system without triggering a hazardous blind rewrite.
